Sometimes it is the simple things in life that make it worth living; I was
filling a coffee pot this morning and I happened to catch the sun coming
through the window in the glass of the pot- it made it look like a
shimmering crystal that swirled around as it filled- and the light cascaded
out into the room. That, in conjunction with the warmth from the sun on the
side of my face made me smile- just to be able to appreciate all of these
things at one time.
I have been watching Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers and I am absolutely
amazed- not as much as by the special effects [those are pretty fucking
amazing as well]- but much more by the landscape and scenery. Some of the
places they filmed [New Zealand, I believe?] are so fantastic that I have to
do a double-take to assure myself that they are not computer imagery.
There are some scenes where Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli are following the
Orcs that have captured the hobbits and the camera pans around them- I am
guessing it is done from a helicopter. I find it hard to believe that these
are actually real places.
I have made some screen captures from the DVD to illustrate the scenes I am
speaking of:
Anyway- It is little things like this that make the day worth living. I
would like to visit a place similar to the above, but I am afraid that I
would never be able to leave. :o)
So this feeling has come and left. I am glad I decided to document it so I
can remember it in my senility.
