Ok, Dragon*Con 2004 has come and gone, and in retrospect i have to say it was awesome! I got tons of pics and learned some very interesting things in the panels. I am already looking forward to next year…
The Goth panels were very interesting; Storm Constantine was enthralling. There were people from Immanion Press and defend band members that gave a lot of insight. Rogue from The Crüxshadows was on a few of the panels is an awesome speaker with TONS on knowledge on Egyptian and ancient mythos. His speaking also gave much insight into the band and their works. …and Goth chicks are such hotties!
The Electronic Frontiers panel had more interesting stuff on Kryptos and digital rights. theinnocence was on the “Web Cam Girls” and ‘My So Called Live Journal(.com)” panels and was as bight and witty as last year. I caught Hacking 101, but 201 conflicted with The Cruxsadows/Faith the Muse concert and 301 was only about 3 people listening to the 201 recordings…
The Adult Swim panel was hilarious. Peter Davidson was very friendly and funny. But i missed the Farscape [a mini-series in October I have heard rumor?], Blake’s 7, Lexx and Babylon 5 panels as there was way too much to do at the same time.
I also learned that the costumes come out at night around 10:00pm – 3:00am; there may be occasional people during the day, but everyone is out in force and posing at the wee hours of the morning. The Dragon*Con staff was very lax with the photo shoots so long as they did not take place by one of the escalators [very understandable] and they were still very courteous when they did request people move on.
I am not sure what it was, but the whole convention seemed to run a little better than last year; i guess they are still evolving their procedures. Now if they could just get the pre-registered lines to not be such a hassle!
I bought some CDs [two Crüxshadows] and T-Shirts [an Atari, Meatwad and Crüxshadows] this year; i almost finally bought a sword, but little things deterred me and made me feel it was not a good idea.
Other than the lack of sleep, i have had a great vacation from work! [Luckily i had the foresight to take off Tuesday as well].
All right, only 360 days until DC2005! :P
