Looks like the C64 Scene still lives!
The C64 was a computer I cut my nerdy teeth on; I first had an Atari 800XL, but it blew up one day and really wasn’t very useful after that… A good friend of mine had a C64 and the games rocked! I learned to do some decent programming [in BASIC] on it and eventually bought myself a C128 with money from summer job at a Chinese restaurant. I sold it with a ton of software and hardware back in 1997 for $80 and have been regretting it every day since…
Now there is a place that will make and IDE interface for a C64: ProtoVision– this is a neat idea, but not very practical for 170 EUR.
I also found a page that shows how to turn a standard PC Floppy into and C64 1581 drive with a DCN-2692 Floppy Controller Board; probably a little above my soldering abilities though…
High Volume SIDS has every piece of C64 music I have ever heard, plus some really authentic SID sounding players…
On another note, I may actual withdraw my thoughts on buying another Sony device- it looks like Sony kept the Clie interface fairly standard in the later generations; I found the PEG-NZ90 will use the same cable for my GPS that my PEG-TG50 uses [I bought the cable setup from PC-Mobile -they have some fascinating stuff]; It also has Bluetooth and can take a CF 802.11b card [and CF memory?!?] The NZ90 is going for $300 – $350 on eBay; so is anyone interested in buying a well kept PEG-TG50?
More interesting info on the NZ90 on the ClieSource Forums…
Now I need to see if I can get the C64 Emulator for the palm working correctly…
