We returned to New Orleans last night for an overnight stay and to bring Diana’s mother back (she spent a few days with her daughter in Atlanta). We are staying at the Intercontinental via Hotwire for $80. Later today we plan on going to the French Quarter and doing a few things before returning- it is going to be a long drive back to Atlanta tonight (6 hours + stops).
While back in Atlanta, I was able to make a ‘Fry’s Day’ trip and pick up a few new gadgets to play with; I will try to review them when I get back. These include:
I have already decided the Mylo2 is going back- it is $300 for a web browser/IM & Skype client and it has crashed three times (twice requiring a reset) and run out of memory twice in one day of use. On top of that, it doesn’t even have a POP3/IMAP mail client!!! Whisto Tangey?
The PSP is a replacement for my ‘fat’ PSP as it could not support Skype in the new v3.90 firmware (way to take care of your customers Sony!). I made a Pandora’s battery a while back and with an updated ‘magic memory stick’ I was able to get the Slim up to 3.90 M33-2 firmware.
The EVDO router is a basic Ethernet-to-wireless router that also has a PCMCIA slot on the top of it. Plug in a compatible Verizon/Sprint/Cingular card and it will act as a wireless gateway for the connection- bypassing any need for wireless at hotels and making it easier to have a mobile hotspot.
