I attended the above mentioned Microsoft Event at the Georgia Convention Center today; it was fairly productive as I received full copies of Windows Server 2008 (well, a 1 year trial), SQL 2008 Developer, MS Visual Studio 2008 Standard and Vista Ultimate 32b(!). There was not much swag at the event but they did provide breakfast/lunch via Microsoft branded ‘coolers’ that are freebies (which apparently were replacements for the normal t-shirt give away) and pretty nice. The event was fairly interesting for the new features of Server 2008- but the
I was lucky enough to win an 8GB Zune via a SMS random draw contest (I guess it also helps to have 3 phones to try with- 3rd one was the winner). However, I already have two dedicated MP3 devices (iPod and a Samsung K2) and several alternative devices (HTC Touch, PSP, Dell Axim, Archos 504, Blackberry 8310 + others I cannot remember at the moment) so I think I may use it as a gift.., (is that so wrong?)
I tried to twitter most of the event (and I picked up a few new followers) but my phone died at about 3pm (from ‘excessive’ SMS and web use)- I guess that isn’t too bad as I took it off the charger at 7am and used it pretty much non-stop for about 5 hours during the conference.
