Dragon*Con is over and I have a few days to rest/recover and just reflect on everything…
One of the most annoying things is losing a place to hang your towel bar in the bathroom- I would have never imagined it was such an annoyance to find a place put a towel (dry or wet) until I managed to rip my towel bar out of the wall. I wasn’t able to go to the hardware store for four days because of the con and other things going on, but today I picked up some toggle bolts and made sure it isn’t going anyplace anytime soon!
I also fixed the doorknob on the bathroom- that has been annoying me for 3+ years (i.e. since I moved in); it is an old mortise lock and the knobs have a set screw that is somewhere between 1/4" and 5/16" in diameter (so about 9/32"?). Lowes does not have anything this size and the cheapest I could get a 5/16" tap set was for about $20- I purchased two 7mm bolts and force threaded it in… :o)
And I finally replaced the lever set on the french doors in my room; it was the only set that I didn’t replace when I did all the others a few years ago. I cheaped out and bought a passage set (i.e. no key) as we never use the lock on the levers as there is a deadbolt above (and I really didn’t feel like breaking out the Schlage re-keying kit from the attic).
I heard somewhere that small unfinished things like this add up and create little bits of stress; I can say it was very therapeutic getting these things done- now maybe I will work on that ‘religion and politics blog’ that I have been considering….
Oh- and I may be weird, but I just cannot get Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog out of my head; I downloaded the MP3s and have already learned the words to ‘My Freeze Ray’ and ‘Everything You Ever’… ("Slipping" and "So They Say" are also among my favorite songs from the video).
It may take a while to watch all three episodes (it is 42:25 long and there are there advertisement pauses on Hulu) but I would hightly recommend it to all; it is a very good tragic romantic comedy based on superhero/villain interactions.
